ChoreBuddies Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
ChoreBuddies helps families run routines, checklists and rewards. Parents set it up and manage it; children use it to tick off their tasks. This policy explains what we hold about your family, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it. It covers the ChoreBuddies Android app, the website at chorebuddies.app, and this site.
ChoreBuddies is run by TemTed (ABN 93 439 349 821). Contact us at support@chorebuddies.app.
The short version
- Only parents have accounts. Children do not sign in, and we never ask a child for information.
- We collect what the app needs to work, and nothing for advertising. There are no ads and no advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not send any child's data to AI services.
- You can delete your account, and all of your household's data, from inside the app or by emailing us.
What we collect
Information a parent gives us
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash) | To create and secure your account and to send account and billing emails |
| Your name | To personalise the app |
| Each child's first name, age band (for example "6–8"), and optional profile photo | So each child sees their own tasks, points and rewards |
| Routines, tasks, rewards, and the record of completed tasks | This is the app's core function |
| A parent PIN (stored only as a secure hash) | To keep children out of the parent settings |
| Your display location, typed in as text (for example a city name) and time zone | To show local time and a weather picture in the app. We never use your device's GPS. |
| Religious preference, optional, website only | To choose daily quotes. The Android app does not collect this; it keeps any quote preference on your device. |
Information created when you use ChoreBuddies
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Crash reports and diagnostics: what went wrong, the app version, device model and operating system version, and an account ID number | To find and fix bugs. Crash reporting is set up to leave out names, email addresses, PINs and photos, and identifies an account only by a random ID number. |
| Purchase and subscription status | To know which features your household has paid for |
| A record of security-sensitive actions, such as changing the parent PIN | To protect your account |
| Server logs, including IP addresses, kept by our hosting provider | For security and to keep the service running. These logs are deleted automatically within a few days. |
What we do not collect
We do not collect precise location, contacts, messages, health or fitness data, or advertising identifiers. We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs. We never see your card or bank details: payments are handled entirely by the payment provider.
Children's privacy
ChoreBuddies is designed to be used by children under a parent's supervision. Children cannot create accounts. All information about a child is entered by their parent, who can view, change or delete it at any time. Children's information is used only to run the app for that family. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never sent to an AI service.
The Android app follows Google Play's Families policy.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database (including profile photos) and sign-in | Sydney, Australia |
| Sentry | Crash reporting | European Union (Germany) |
| Resend | Sending account emails | United States |
| PayPal | Subscription payments on the website | Under PayPal's own privacy policy |
| Google Play | Subscription payments in the Android app (when available) | Under Google's own privacy policy |
| Lovable | Hosting the chorebuddies.app website | Australia |
| GitHub | Hosting this policy site (legal.chorebuddies.app) | United States |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If ChoreBuddies is ever sold or transferred, this policy will continue to apply to your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open.
When you delete your account, we delete your account and all data for the households you own straight away. We keep one encrypted copy of that data for 30 days so we can restore it if the deletion was a mistake or is disputed, and then delete that copy automatically. Our database provider also keeps daily backups for disaster recovery; each one is deleted automatically after 7 days, so deleted data is gone from every backup within 7 days.
Deleting your account
- In the Android app: Settings, then Delete my account.
- Without the app: see legal.chorebuddies.app/delete-account, or email support@chorebuddies.app from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my account".
Deleting your account deletes your household's children, routines, tasks, rewards, completion history and photos. Cancel any active subscription first: on the website, deletion cancels a PayPal subscription automatically; Google Play subscriptions are managed in the Play Store.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you and your children by emailing support@chorebuddies.app. We will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local privacy regulator (in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner).
Security
All data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to each household's data is restricted in the database itself, so one family can never read another's. Passwords and parent PINs are stored only as secure hashes.
Changes to this policy
If we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
